Romanian Hand Made-Embroidered Table Squares

Ghost Orchid Antiques and Collectibles is pleased to present these small tablecloths more appropriately named Table Squares. Each is hand crafted by women pensioners (retirees) in the mountains of Romania. Each is unique and would add a touch of beauty to any home. These Table Squares are suited to a small table or any large table by placing the table square with two points facing the outer edges of the table and two points facing either end of the table.

This Table Square Measures 31” x 32” and is made of soft, cream-colored cotton with a light sheen and sage green cut-out embroidery work framing the center panel as well as the outer edge of the Table Square. A lovely piece for use on a table or as a wall hanging. This Table Square is made of crisp white linen and measures 36” x 37”. The hand embroidered flowers are extremely well done, making it difficult to distinguish front from back. Opposite corner designs include a butterfly with the floral pattern. A distinguishing characteristic of this Table Square is the open stitch work that surrounds the center panel and borders the outer edge of the design on the entire piece and adding a touch of formality. This Table Square measures 40” x 40” and is made from 4 linen panels each of which carries a hand done crewel tulip pattern. The 4 panels are attached with hand made lace and then the entire Table Square is bordered with the same lace. A wonderful example of both crewel work and tatting; suitable for use on a table or as a wall hanging.
